Jamestown police arrest suspect involved in shooting that left a man injured

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WKBW) — Police in Jamestown say they have a suspect in custody after a shooting sent a man to the hospital, Monday afternoon.

Authorities say they've arrested 27-year-old Jorge Medina-Tirando for allegedly shooting a man several times with a pistol outside a home at 834 Prendergast Avenue just before 2:30 p.m.

According to police, Medina-Tirando hit the man at least twice during the altercation.

Investigators were able to find a loaded hand gun near the scene and found Medina-Tirando on Euclid Avenue.

The man who was shot is undergoing surgery at UPMC Hamot in Erie, Penn.

Medina-Tirando is being held in Jamestown City Jail and has been charged with assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
