It's National Day of Prayer. Here's a list of prayer gatherings you can attend Thursday

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Today is National Day of Prayer.

It's been observed every year on the first Thursday of May since 1952.

Congress designated the day as one for people to "turn to god in prayer and meditation."

Every year since then the president has signed a proclamation encouraging all Americans to pray.

Here's a list of prayer gatherings across the area you can attend Thursday.

GATHERINGS FOR ERIE COUNTY

Thursday, May 2, at noon at Lafayette Square (415 Main Street, Buffalo).

Thursday, May 2, at 7pm Cheektowaga Campus (200 Thruway Plaza, Cheektowaga).

GATHERINGS FOR NIAGARA COUNTY

Thursday, May 2, at 6:30pm at the Town of Niagara Fire Co (6010 Lockport Road, Niagara Falls)

Thursday, May 2, at 6:30pm at Lockport Alliance Church (555 Davison Road, Lockport)
