HAMBURG, NY (WKBW) — Barbara Lockwood has been a volunteer for Feedmore WNY's Meals on Wheels program for 45 years.

"It makes my day," Lockwood said about volunteering every Wednesday. "I feel good when I get home. I feel like I helped somebody."

Volunteers are truly the life blood of our mission," Catherine Shick, Communications Manager for Feedmore WNY said. "We could not continue our operations and feed our vulnerable community members if it wasn't for people like Barbara."

Every Wednesday Barbara and her husband make around 12 deliveries to homes in the surrounding Hamburg area. They don't just deliver a fresh meal, they also visit with those who are homebound - checking in on their well-being and making conversation.

"You need to do something like tat if you have the time," Lockwood said about the need for volunteers. "You need to think of other people and do for them as you can."
