Intoxicated driver causes head-on crash in Orchard Park

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WKBW) — An intoxicated driver caused a head-on crash in Orchard Park Thursday night.

Orchard Park Police say William McKee, of Medina, was traveling east on Southwestern Boulevard (Route 20) and crossed over into the westbound lanes where he struck a vehicle operated by a 69-year-old Buffalo man head-on.

Orchard Park Fire and Rescue extricated both drivers from their vehicles and they were transferred to ECMC.

McKee was treated and released, the other driver remains at ECMC in serious but stable condition.

Following the investigation, OPPD says it was determined McKee was driving while intoxicated and his license was suspended and revoked five times for failing to answer a summons and a previous alcohol related conviction.

Both vehicles were destroyed in the crash.

McKee faces the following charges:

Driving while intoxicated
Moving from lane unsafely
Aggravated unlicensed operator 2nd degree - three Counts
Aggravated unlicensed operator 1st degree (E Felony)
Reckless driving
Vehicular assault 2nd degree (E Felony)
Aggravated vehicular assault (C Felony)
