BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — You can add the World's Largest Disco to the long list of Buffalo traditions that won't happen in person this year because of COVID-19.

Organizers officially announced this year's event, scheduled for November 28 at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, will be held virtually. Both the convention center and the adjoining Hyatt Regency remain closed because of the pandemic.

The disco is a major fundraiser for Camp Good Days and Special Times, generating more than $300,000 in annual donations for the charity.

Organizers are hoping to make up for the loss of donations through a variety of fundraising initiatives such as special t-shirt sales and song sponsorships during the virtual disco, which will be held simultaneously online and on Star 102.5.

More than 80 events have been cancelled at the convention center so far this year, costing the local economy millions of dollars in revenue.
