ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — You could have the chance to take home an actual part of New Era Field.

The Bill's stadium is replacing its turf before the 2019 season. Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo is proposing that the old turf be auctioned off for charity.

"Auctioning off the turf would give the many Western New York sports fans the opportunity to take home a piece of the Bills field while supporting a great cause," Lorigo said.

The proceeds would go to organizations that provide athletic opportunities for children with developmental disabilities.

Alan Pettiway, the owner of Center Ice Sports Cards, said it's difficult to put a price on the turf from New Era field, but he thinks it could start at $50 in an auction setting.

"I think a square foot would probably be a 50, and obviously if you add white lines and numbers its going to change the value and stuff like that."

7 Eyewitness News reached out to the Bills and the Erie County department of Public Works since the field is technically owned by tax payers. Neither got back to us.
