BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Tuesday's wait at the bus stop is expected to be bitterly cold.

That's why health experts are urging you to keep your kids inside until the bus comes if possible.

Otherwise, make sure you layer your little ones. And cover hands, feet, head and even their face if you can. It's important to limit skin exposure when dealing with this type of cold. As for how long it's advised that they wait in the cold, it all boils down to what number is on that thermometer.

“If it's over 30 degrees out, it's ok for children to be outside playing. But, we should still check in and make sure they're staying nice and warm every 15-20 minutes. When we get to 15 to 30 degrees, we should really be limiting the amount of time they're outside. Anything less than 15 degrees, we should keep it indoors,” said Oishei Children’s Hospital Pediatrician, Dr. Jessica Donhauser.
