BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — It's that time of year to be surrounded by family and friends and enjoy the season. But some don't have that luxury.

"A lot of our clients we serve live alone, they may not have family in town to celebrate the holidays with them and a lot of tiems, the volunteers are like family to them," said Anne McKenna, Chief Communications Officer of FeedMore WNY.

FeedMore WNY's Meals on Wheels Program provides people with meals during the season. They're also providing them with friends.

"They're my new best friends. They're wonderful," said Pizzie Gigante, of Buffalo.

"I love them, they're the nice people and I've never seen nice people like them," said Isaac Irizarry, who gets support from Meals on Wheels.

"They make my day better," said Arnell Corson.

They're talking about volunteers Peter and Teresa Corrigan. They spend their days helping others in the Blackrock Neighborhood.

"We're retired and we have time to give back to people," said Peter.

FeedMore helps people every holiday season, but this year, they're able to give a little more.

"As one organization, Feedmore WNY, we really have a lot more resources and staff who can participate and be part of what we're doing," said McKenna.

FeedMore is always looking for more people like the Corrigans.

"When you go to sleep at night, you know you had a worthwhile day," said Teresa.
