BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Soon you'll be able to see just how much that trip to the hospital will cost you before you go.
Starting New Year's Day, all hospitals will have to post the cost of their standard services online. The new federal rule means you'll be able to price shop hospitals before you choose where you want to be treated.
Supporters say it will help people know how much they'll be spending, and allow them to choose where and how they want to spend. Critics say the lists won't inform patients about adjusted and sometimes increased costs due to insurance or other factors.
