WASHINGTON (WKBW) — Due to COVID-19, Honor Flights will be suspended for all of 2020, according to the Honor Flight Network's Facebook page.
This comes as Honor Flight was prepared to reach a quarter million free trips for veterans since the organization was founded 15 years ago.
Today, we made the very difficult but necessary decision to suspend all trips in 2020. Thank you to our hubs for remaining creative in how you continue to honor our veterans at this time. And thank you to all our supporters. A brighter future is ahead. Planning for 2021 starts now! The Honor Flight Network will continue until every veteran has experienced our national memorials to service.
The Honor Flight Network estimates that 20,000 veterans would have been transported this year.
