COLDEN, N.Y. (WKBW) — New York State Police say a Holland man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a state trooper.

Authorities say 31-year-old Chaz Brezicki was stopped in Colden for driving 90 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone.

According to state police, the trooper detected alcohol and asked Brezicki to step out of the vehicle to perform a sobriety test.

When the trooper asked Brezicki to step out of the vehicle, authorities say he became combative resulting in a physical altercation.

Brezicki has been charged with the following

  • Assault in the second degree
  • Criminal obstruction of breathing
  • Driving while intoxicated
  • Resisting arrest

Brezicki was arraigned by a judge and was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of a $50,000 bail.
