BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — Warmer temperatures and some rain is not putting a damper on ski and snowboarding season at Holiday Valley in Ellicottville.

According to snowmaker Dan Aldrich, "One of the bigger misconceptions we have is if there's no snow in our backyard, there's no snow up here. That's not really the case."

The resort took advantage of the bitter cold last week, churning out tons of snow, and stockpiling it to spread around.

On Wednesday, Holiday Valley plans to have 30 slopes open during the day, and 27 at night.

7 quad lifts and 2 conveyor lifts will be operating.

That's pretty impressive following a record high temperature set this past weekend.

Take an inside look at how Holiday Valley uses a snow depth measuring system, and an unmatched HKD Automated Snowmaking System to create and maintain a consistent snow surface.

Even through the multiple warm weather cycles we've seen this winter, the snowmakers and snowmaking system have answered the call.
