WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WKBW) — It may be difficult to think positively about job prospects this year, but a recent survey shows an upbeat outlook for the second half of 2020.
"It's a little known fact about how many open jobs there really are out there. And particularly here in Western New York what a great job we're doing at restarting our economy," said Darren Moscato, Franchise owner of Express Employment Professionals.
The nationwide survey was conducted in April to determine what the hiring trends would be going forward into the second half of this year.
42% of hiring decision makers surveyed predict there will be no change in their business, while 35% anticipate an increase in employee count.
It was conducted by The Harris Poll and commissioned by Express Employment Professionals in West Seneca.
Express Employment Professionals help people find jobs by connecting the right person to the right job.
"We are a staffing service. Clients come to us when they're looking for workers to staff their roles, and associates come to us when they're looking for a job or a better job to complete their career," said Moscato.
Moscato said there are 76 light industrial jobs available at 22 employers throughout South Buffalo, West Seneca, Lancaster and other communities.
Light industrial jobs being manufacturers or service workers.
"The message for the workforce out there is that in this game of musical chairs, when the music stops you want to make sure that you've got a chair. And there are lots of jobs out there right now," said Moscato.
Express Employment is hosting a drive-thru job fair next Wednesday for manufacturing jobs starting at $15.50 an hour.
The fair will take place at noon on 25 French Road in Cheektowaga.
