BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Local athlete Maddy Eberhard will represent the United States in Austria at the World Rowing Championships. She will take part in the Para-Rowing Women's 1x.
Eberhard says she began rowing in 2017 for the West Side Rowing Club in Buffalo, and her passion as grown ever since. She says she's worked extra hard to to prove that even with a disability, she is just as passionate as anyone else about rowing.
The trip to Austria is fully self-funded. Travel fees, hotel, U.S rowing fees, and equipment rental are not covered by the U.S. Rowing Team, so Eberhard started a GoFundMe page to raise money to make her way to the World Rowing Championships.
