HAMBURG, N.Y. (WKBW) — Town of Hamburg Police Captain Christopher Monaco is expected to retire following his suspension due to a domestic incident.

Monaco was suspended without pay following a domestic incident at his home in May.

According to court documents, veteran Captain Monaco is charged with obstruction of justice after police say he tried to interfere with the investigation by telling his wife "DO NOT TALK TO HIM." Court documents also reveal he got into a physical altercation with officers and tried to "order" them around, preventing them from doing their official duties.

The agenda for Monday's Town Board meeting for the Town of Hamburg states:

"16. Retirement - Captain Monaco

RESOLVED; that the Town of Hamburg acknowledges the retirement of Police Captain Chris Monaco and authorizes the Town Supervisor to execute an MOA as wellas any ancillary documents to give effect to same."
