Genesee Co. man charged with DWI after vehicle collides with train, catches fire

TOWN OF BERGEN, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Genesee County Sheriff's Office announced a Bergen man is facing multiple charges after his vehicle collided with a train and caught fire.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. Friday in the area of 7711 Townline Road in Bergen. The sheriff's office says 57-year-old Timothy Brady allegedly fled on foot after his vehicle collided with a train and caught fire.

Upon arrival deputies say the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. Brady was found a short time later not far from the scene, according to officials.

Brady was allegedly operating the vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol, he faces the following charges:

  • Driving while intoxicated.
  • Aggravated unlicensed operation.
  • Refusal to take breath test.
  • Leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

He was released with appearance tickets and is due back in court October 8.
