BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — As we're approaching the fall, drivers in Western New York are enjoying some relief at the gas pump.

The latest numbers from AAA of Western and Central New York show the average price of gas per gallon to be $2.69 in both Buffalo and Batavia, down three cents from last week. The New York state average is now $2.72, also down from last week, and 28 cents lower than this time last year.

What's surprising is the gas demand is higher than normal for this time of year, as the Energy Information Administration says demand slows down after Labor Day.
