BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Country superstar Garth Brooks is bringing a concert to more than 300 drive-in movie theaters across North America on June 27.

Brooks made the announcement on Good Morning America Thursday, organizers say it will be the largest ever one-night concert to play at the outdoor theaters.

“I am so excited to get to play again. I have missed it so much and want to get back to it,” said Brooks. “This drive-in concert allows us all to get back to playing live music without the uncertainty of what would be the result to us as a community. This is old school, new school, and perfect for the time we are in.”

The event will be produced by Encore Live.

“Families need safe entertainment options that they can enjoy together this summer,” said Encore Live Founder and CEO Walter Kinzie. “We’re excited to partner with Garth, who’s already done so much to help the entertainment industry during these tough times, to provide a truly unique and incredible concert that will do a whole lot of good for local businesses and communities.”

The Transit Drive-In in Lockport tells 7 Eyewitness News they have signed up for the event and will have about 150 spots available, owner Rick Cohen says he expects it to sell out.

7EWN reached out to the other drive-in theaters in the area to see if they were participating and didn't hear back. This includes Sunset Drive-In in Middleport, Silver Lake Twin Drive-In in Perry, and Delevan Twin Drive-In in Delevan.

Tickets go on sale Friday, June 19th at 12:00 PM ET at Ticketmaster.com/garthbrooks. Tickets will be $100. Each ticket will admit one passenger car/truck. The event will take place rain or shine and will begin at dusk.

The organizer says any drive-in theater owners who are not currently slated to air the concert and want to, should contact driveinowners@encorelive.com.
