AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — One hawk is counting its lucky feathers after being rescued from the freezing cold.

According to the Amherst Highway Department, one of their employees spotted an adult red tail hawk on Meadowstream Drive. The highway department says the bird was frozen.

The employee wrapped a blanket around the hawk and brought it into the truck.

Animal control took the hawk to the SPCA, where it is recovering in an incubator.
