GETZVILLE, N.Y. (WKBW) — A bucket of spaghetti and meatballs, a salad and garlic bread. "Ready Spaghetti" feeds a family of four, for families that need it most.
That's what Lebro's Restaurant in Getzville is giving away to any federal worker affected by the national government shutdown. TSA worker? Coast Guard? Peace Bridge Officer? It doesn't matter, just show your ID and dinner is on the house.
“Look at any of us, if we were going to work and weren’t getting paid we’d be like what am I doing this for," says Lebros owner, Carm Paolini. “Just trying to give back a little bit and do what we can do.”
Paolini says promotion will last as long as it needs to last. The first free meal was delivered to a border worker who told 7 Eyewitness News off camera that Saturday would mark his second paycheck that he hasn't received since the shutdown. He did admit though, that his management has been 'great' despite the circumstances.
“People feel comfortable walking into a place where they know people. They know they can come in a see familiar faces, they know they can come in and get a good meal.”
