BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — Hundreds of local students are one step closer to being ready to go back to school.

Wireless Zone gave away more than 400 backpacks filled with school supplies to school aged children on Sunday.

The giveaway took place at three local wireless zone locations, including East Aurora, where there was a line Sunday morning.

It's part of a national campaign that started in 2013.

Organizers say more than one million backpacks have been donated to date.

Five college scholarships were also given away.

There's no word if any local students were chosen.
