PEMBROKE, N.Y. (WKBW) — An Akron woman is dead following a serious crash in Genesee County.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Office says Patricia Dzienciol died at ECMC Tuesday after the SUV she was driving and another car hit each other head-on.

The crash happened around 7:15 in the morning, along West Main Street near Barrett Drive. The impact threw Dzienciol's SUV into a ditch on the side of the road and tore the front almost completely off of the other car.

Three people were in the car. Dzienciol was the only person in the SUV at the time.

East Pembroke Fire Chief Don Newton tells 7 Eyewitness News one person was ejected from the car, and firefighters had to extricate one person from the back seat of the car and Dzienciol from the SUV.

West Main Street was closed between Powers and Read Roads for nearly two hours while crews cleared the scene.

At this point, the condition of the other victims is unclear.

Investigators are trying to figure out if weather played a role in the crash.
