Four juveniles taken into custody for possession of stolen car in Amherst

AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — Amherst police say four juveniles were taken into custody for several charges after stealing a car on Sheridan Drive, Friday morning.

Police say the four juveniles were all from Buffalo and were observed by officers for operating the stolen vehicle around 7:45 a.m.

Officers say the vehicle fled the scene after officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

The juveniles eventually stopped the vehicle in the 4000-block of Sheridan Drive.

The driver of the vehicle was charged with criminal possession of stolen property 3rd, a D Felony as well as unauthorized use of a motor vehicle 3rd, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle 3rd degree and several vehicle and traffic law violations.

The driver was also found to be possessing stolen credit and debit cards.

The other three juveniles were each charged with possession of stolen property and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

One of the suspects was taken to the East Ferry Juvenile Detention Facility, while the others are waiting arraignment from a judge.
