DETROIT (WKBW) — A former Senior UAW Official from Grand Island plead guilty on Tuesday, to receiving $123,000 in bribes and kickbacks and conspiring with others, according to the Eastern Michigan District of the U.S. Attorney's Office.

78-year-old Jeffery Pietrzyk plead guilty to the following charges:

  • Conspiring to engage in honest services wire fraud
  • Conspiring to launder money

All of this between the years of 2006 and 2018, according to officials.

During the plea hearing, Pietrzyk admitted to, "conspir[ing] with two other high-level UAW officials in the UAW’s GM Department to take millions of dollars in bribes and kickbacks from vendors doing business with the joint UAW-GM Center for Human Resources."

Pietrzyk is the tenth person to plead guilty in the ongoing criminal investigation into the United Auto Workers union.

He is expected to be sentenced in March 2020.
