Former NYS corrections officer convicted of possession of child pornography

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A former New York State corrections officer from Cheektowaga was sentenced to serve 60 months in prison on a child pornography conviction Tuesday.

27-year-old Joseph Chojnacki was convicted of possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Officials say a tip of suspected child pornography came in from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children was traced to Chojnacki.

On May 9, 2019 officials say approximately 3,814 images and 138 videos of child pornography were discovered on Chojnacki's electronic devices during the execution of a federal search warrant at his Louis Street residence.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says some of the images depicted prepubescent minors and sexual abuse or exploitation of an infant or toddler.
