DERBY, N.Y. (WKBW) — How do you turn $2 into $80 million? The answer is Powerball. The Tops Market in Derby is where someone bought a winning ticket Wednesday night. It's the first time the winning ticket has come from Western New York.

"I can't believe it!" Ted Misiake said.

"I think it's exciting. It made me so happy this morning to see that it's someone form my community," Nora Bouvier said.

While the winner hasn't claimed the top prize just yet, there were two winners at the Derby Tops. Bouvier won a buck, and one man won $20.

The $80 million winner will choose to take a lump sum payment or have the money spread over 30 years.

"Whoever won I wish them luck!" Ginny Zoda said.

But after federal and state tax the $80 million will boil down to just less than $40 million.

"I'm not surprised. It's New York state. I'm not surprised, but that's $40 million more than they had last night," said Bouvier.

So what would you do with $40 million? With that kind of money you could get about 500 Teslas, almost 7,000 trips to Disney World and more than 50,000 Bills season tickets. But three people told 7 Eyewitness News they had a different plan.

"I'd probably help everybody out," Misiake said.

"We would have helped out the family, given to some charities," Zoda said.

"My family, my nieces, my nephews and of course my son. Spread the wealth," Bouvier said.

So if you haven't yet, check your Powerball tickets. The winning numbers are: 04 08 30 52 59.
