GREAT VALLEY, N.Y. (WKBW) — As the rain falls and the water rushes, neighbors in Great Valley are dealing with flooding in their backyards.
As heavy rain poured on Thursday, Christy Wiser rushed home from work to turn off her electricity and take things out of her now-flooded shed.
“We kind of gauge it on the steps, how deep it gets. The highest we’ve ever seen it is up to our fourth step, today it only got up to the first step,” says Wiser. “It was moving so fast.”
Neighbor Dominic Buccilli came home to water receding from his backyard.
“We have this type of flooding in the spring when the snow melts at Holiday Valley and HoliMont and we have rain,” says Buccilli.
The neighbors say the flooding never happens this late in the spring.
With the rain continuing overnight, neighbors are hoping it doesn’t get any worse.
