Going to the hospital can be nerve-wracking for anyone. But, for a child with autism, that anxiety can be amplified.

That's why John R. Oishei Children's Hospital is launching an app designed to help its young patients.

Oishei Children's Hospital is the first hospital in the United States to partner with MagnusCards®, a free mobile application by Buffalo and Ontario-based company, Magnusmode.

MagnusCards® leverages digital how-to card decks, complete with step-by-step instructions and intuitive game design, to assist and empower people with autism and cognitive special needs as they navigate a variety of everyday situations with greater ease and independence.

“That's something I can prep her for. She can access the app herself. And, it will give the best possible scenario of the actual visit,” said Susan Maggio. Maggio’s daughter Kristin is autistic.

To download the app, go to your app store on your mobile device, and search “Magnus cards.”
