RIPLEY, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says two people and five dogs were rescued from their home Friday morning.

Authorities say a fire started at a trailer on Maple Avenue in Ripley just after 1 a.m.

Crews were able to help a man and a woman along with five dogs by helping them get out a window of the trailer.

A woman was treated and released from a hospital in Erie, Penn. while a 65-year-old man was treated for burns at a hospital in the Pittsburgh-area.

Investigators say discarded smoking materials was the cause of the fire.
