GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WKBW) — Fire crews worked to control a fire at a shopping center on Grand Island Tuesday afternoon.

Officials with the Grand Island Fire Company say the fire started around 2:30 p.m. at the Tai Pei restaurant on Grand Island Boulevard.

Everyone in the restaurant was able to safely leave the building. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials say several fire companies responded to the scene.

The fire destroyed most of the interior of the restaurant and also damaged two neighboring businesses. Fire investigators say total damage is estimated at $200,000 -- $150,000 for the structure and $50,000 for the contents.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

A GoFundMe account has been started to help the owners rebuild.
