TOWN OF NIAGARA, N.Y. (WKBW) — Police and firefighters battled a fire at the old Military Road School in the Town of Niagara Friday.
Military Road had to be closed for several hours between Lockport Road and Route 31 as firefighters knocked down the flames. The Tops and Rite Aid plaza can still be be accessed off Grauer and the Isherwood neighborhood off the side streets on 31.
Smoke and flames could be seen billowing from the roof of the brick building.
Sanborn Firefighters responded to the scene.
It's unclear how the fire started. There are no word about any injuries.
The Town of Niagara Veterans Memorial Community Park had to be closed because of smoke. No word yet when it will reopen.
