BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — FeedMore WNY is calling on the community to help it access one of the most popular shelf-stable foods: peanut butter.

"It's a high protein product that frankly most kids and families enjoy," said Jerry Sheldon, FeedMore WNY Board Chair.

For the second weekend, the organization is holding a "Spread the Love" contactless food drive on Saturday, May 30th from 10am-2pm across five locations in Western New York.

While peanut butter is the focus, monetary donations and other non-perishable food items are also welcome.

The donations will help FeedMore WNY meet the unprecedented demand caused by COVID-19. Accessing food product from traditional vendors has been an issue due to supply chain challenges, which is why community donations are crucial, according to Sheldon.

Sheldon expects demand will continue to remain high throughout the summer months.

"I don't think there's going to be any change in the challenges that FeedMore faces to get enough food out there for all those in our community that need it," Sheldon said.

Food Drive Locations on May 30:

  • Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo
  • Chautauqua Mall (near JCPenney), 318 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood
  • NOCO Tonawanda, 2440 Sheridan Drive, Tonawanda
  • Aurora Village Shopping Center, 123 Grey St., East Aurora
  • Tops Friendly Markets, 5827 S. Transit Road, Lockport

Volunteers at each location will retrieve food from vehicles dropping off donations in order to maintain social distancing. There will also be tables for walk-up donation drop offs.
