BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Many people believe that 2020 will be the year of the girl, so far that's been the case at local hospitals.

Catholic Health says the 'first baby' born in 2020 at each of its hospitals, is a girl!

This includes the following hospitals:

  • Sisters of Charity Hospital Main Campus
  • Mercy Hospital of South Buffalo
  • Mount St. Mary’s Hospital

This year, the first 2020 baby is Eden Rose Sadler who was born at 1:35 a.m., New Year's Day at Sisters of Charity Hospital.

Mom, Julia Dzubella thought Eden was going to be born back in 2019.

"11:30 they broke my water and typically I have my babies quick, so I thought she was going to make it before midnight, but she had other plans," Dzubella said.

She spent the afternoon resting peacefully alongside a teddy bear bigger than she is. She was squinting, but never really opened her eyes,

"She doesn't wanna open here eyes, it's too bright," said dad, Thomas Sadler.

After all she did have quite the night.

Baby Eden is the daughter of Julia and Thomas, and weighs six pounds, 13.2 ounces, and is 18.78 inches long.

As for other area hospitals, Kaleida Health said Oishei Children's Hospital did not have any births last night or this morning. Kaleida said Millard Fillmore hospital saw its first baby of 2020 a few minutes before 8 a.m. New Year's Day.
