Evans man and woman facing several charges following police chase in Hamburg

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WKBW) — Police in the Town of Evans say a man and a woman are facing numerous charges after crashing their vehicle during a police chase in Hamburg on Valentine's Day.

Authorities say 41-year-old Michael Penvose and 32-year-old Laura Park were originally stopped by officers on Route 5 near Herr Road, early Sunday morning.

Park was originally driving the vehicle, then she and Penvose switched seats and fled the scene.

Police chased them on Route 20 towards Hamburg when the vehicle then spun out, crashing into a mailbox and coming to a rest in a ditch.

Park and Penvose then fled the scene on foot and were eventually taken into custody.

Officers located several narcotics and drug paraphernalia on Park and Penvose and inside the car.

Park was charged with the following

  • Multiple counts of misdemeanor Criminal Possession of controlled substance(s)
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration
  • Several traffic violations

Penvose was charged with the following

  • Multiple felony counts of Criminal Possession of a Narcotic Drug with intent to sell
  • Unlawfully fleeing a police officer
  • Multiple counts of misdemeanor Criminal Possession of controlled substance(s)
  • Ten vehicle and traffic law violations

Penvose was also arraigned and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center.
