BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County Water Authority has issued an alert to its customers of a possible scam.
In a letter to customers ECWA says it was recently alerted of what appears to be a suspicious web site domain registration that looks very similar to ECWA.org but misspelled.
"ECWA does NOT email customers to request account passwords or other personal information. If you do receive what looks to be a legitimate email to this effect from a similar domain, please do not respond and immediately call ECWA Customer Service at (716) 849-8484," the letter says.
ECWA says it is confident in its cyber security systems and procedures and will continue to monitor the matter and will keep customers fully informed.
