ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is finally set to get body cameras.
The Erie County Legislature unanimously approved a contract for AXON to provide 209 cameras to the Sheriff’s office.
The contract is a 5-year deal.
AXON will provide the cameras, software, and cloud-based data storage for the footage.
Legislators hope to get the products purchased and installed as soon as possible.
A $10 fee was also approved for any Freedom of Information Act requests to the Sheriff’s Office for footage, legislators say these funds will go back to directly help fund the body camera program.
