BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The newest K9 team for the Erie County Sheriff's Office K9 unit has been deployed after earning their certification.

Danny, a 2-year-old yellow lab, and his partner Deputy Bartholomew completed the 10-week and 400-hour long training at a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) in Virginia.

Danny and Deputy Bartholomew will be deployed to search areas, stadiums and buildings before and during events. They will also respond to bomb threats.

The Puppies Behind Bars Program (PBB) initially trained Danny, he is the second K9 the sheriff's office has received through this program.
