KENMORE, N.Y. (WKBW) — After months of isolation, many are finding any reason to get out of the house now that the weather's warm.
"People are coming and supporting and shopping local and that's exactly what everyone needs to just get outside and be together as a community," said Lauren Willett-Benson, Market Manager.
The market is open 9-1pm on Sundays and the first hour is reserved for the elderly and immuno-compromised. It's limited to essential food-based vendors with social distancing measures and fewer activities to keep people safe. The market is open 9-1pm on Sundays and the first hour.
"We can't do so many of the things that we're used to but we can bring them back into our lives in a little bit of a different way," said Willett-Benson.
Many people who stopped by said it was just nice to see people. While this summer is a bit different than usual, WNYers are finding ways to enjoy.
"There's always something to do outside. Try just a little walk around the block. Try to see if you can converse with neighbors from a distance," said Jane Riga, who stopped by the market with her husband.
There's also the Buffalo Zoo and Aquarium of Niagara which open this week. The Buffalo Waterfront is open and drive-ins are offering live music. All ways you can socialize, get outdoors and stay safe all at the same time.
