OTTAWA, Ont. (WKBW) — An elderly Ottawa man trapped inside his home all winter was found alive earlier this month.

A concerned neighbor called police to do a wellness check after not seeing the man for some time. Police say they found a "winter's" worth of snow piled in the driveway with "no tracks and no signs of life."

Officers say they found the elderly man inside his home alone and alive after forcing their way into the house. Police immediately began to dig the snow out of the man's driveway.

According to police, the man lived inside his home for the entire winter, surviving on what food and supplies he already at in the house.

Officers say they will bring him groceries and contact services that will help ensure he has support.
