BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — SUNY Erie Community College President Dan Hocoy will be departing Buffalo for Kansas City in June.

Hocoy will become Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives for Metropolitan Community College.

Hocoy says he leaves Buffalo with mixed feelings.

"It has been a blessing to be back in the region of my childhood, which also allowed me to take care of my parents in their last days. And it has been my greatest honor to serve the College and work with our Board of Trustees, the County Executive and the Erie County Legislature," Hocoy said in a statement on Thursday night.

Hocoy will stay on as ECC's president until his contract expires on June 30.

The SUNY Erie Board of Trustees will immediately begin the process to form a search committee for Hocoy's successor.

"We are grateful to Dr. Hocoy for his valuable contributions to advance SUNY Erie over the past three years," said Len Lenihan, chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Hocoy joined SUNY Erie as the community college's president in July 2017.
