EAST AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) — East Amherst Fire Department responded to calls of a house fire on Bramblewood Lane Wednesday night just before 8.

The fire started outside the house but quickly spread due to flammable Halloween decorations. When fire crews arrived, the garage was fully engulfed in flames.

Inspectors estimate total damage to be around $250,000. We have not been told if the house is still livable or not. A pick-up truck and jet ski were destroyed by the fire.

The homeowner was transported to the hospital for minor burns on the hand and fingers.

An initial report listed a cutting torch as the cause of the fire, but we're told it is still being investigated.

We will update with more information as the investigation continues.
