DWI roving patrols and checkpoints to be present through New Year's Eve

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — State, County, and Local Police will conduct DWI roving patrols and checkpoints throughout Erie County through New Year's Eve.

According to officials, the extra enforcement began Friday and will be in addition to regular patrols.

2,362 drivers have been arrested for impaired driving in Erie County through December 23rd, according to a release from STOP DWI New York.

Motorists are encouraged to find safe and low cost alternatives to avoid drinking and driving.

One option for those individuals is being offered by Designated Drivers of Buffalo (DDOB).

DDOB, partenered with the Law Offices of William Mattar, are offering hundreds of free or discounted rides to get people home safely with their vehicle.

Individuals must register here, and will be automatically enrolled in a free one-year membership to DDOB and will receive a free or discounted ride to use.
