WILSON, N.Y. (WKBW) — An alleged impaired driver is facing charges after he struck a utility pole, knocking out power for some residents near Wilson.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Casey M. Schultz, 24 of Lockport, was driving a 2017 Cadillac southbound when the vehicle left the road and hit a National Grid utility pole, early Thursday morning.

The pole was sheared in half, taking out the electricity in the area and forcing utility crews to work through the early morning hours to restore power.

Schultz was treated for minor injuries at ECMC and is being charged with driving while intoxicated.
