JAMESTOWN, N.Y.(WKBW) — A 27-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly struck and injured a child with his vehicle.
Jamestown Police say Nicholas S. Evans has been charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and other traffic charges after the October 22nd incident that left a 2-year-old boy with a broken leg.
Police say Evans was driving on E. 5th Street around 9:30 at night when he hit the 2-year-old child who was walking along the side of the road with his family.
Evans allegedly didn't stop at the scene but drove to a nearby parking lot. A group of bystanders, who had apparently seen the crash happen, confronted Evans and broke out the driver's side window of his car. Evans then left that lot and was later apprehended by police at a parking lot on Franklin Street.
The child was treated at a local hospital and then released.
