TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Town of Tonawanda man has been charged by the New York State DEC police for letting his dog run on lands inhabited by deer.

Police say 60-year-old David Gardner allowed his dog to run, without a leash in the Sheridan Park Golf Course.

Town of Tonawanda Police say officers had to shoot a deer March 15 after they say Gardner's dog attacked a deer with its teeth.

Police say Gardner was supposed to have his dog on a leash.

He faces a $200 fine and up to ten days in jail.
