ARKWRIGHT, N.Y. (WKBW) — Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a woman on fire Thursday morning.

The call came in from the Arkwright Hills Campground around 7:30 in the morning. When first responders got to the scene, the fire had been extinguished but the victim had serious burn injuries and was not responsive.

According to the sheriff's office, the initial report was that the 42-year-old woman set herself on fire.

The woman was rushed to ECMC via Mercy Flight. Deputies say she sustained third degree burns over 70% of her body.

Sheriff's office investigators say they are interviewing another person who was in the area at the time of the incident as they continue to look in to the situation.
