DEPEW, N.Y. (WKBW) — Following an investigation, Depew Police have charged a local man in an armed robbery case that targeted a pedestrian in the village.

According to police, the incident happened last week along South Transit Road in the early morning hours. Police say 33-year-old Brandon Campbell pulled his vehicle over to talk to the victim, a pedestrian who was walking home, and called the victim over to his truck.

Investigators say Campbell showed a gun, demanded the victim's wallet and back back and then "racked" the gun, resulting in a shell being ejected from the firearm.

The pedestrian handed over the wallet and back pack and then fled the area, unharmed.

Campbell has been charged with 1st degree robbery in the armed robbery case but police believe he was also behind a convenient store robbery that happened the next day as well. That investigation is still ongoing.
