TOWN OF MIDDLEBURY, N.Y. (WKBW) — A 73-year-old Depew man has died from injuries sustained in a crash in Wyoming County in July, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials say Peter Haas was the passenger of a vehicle being driven by a 63-year-old Lancaster man while in the Town of Middlebury on July 24.

The sheriff’s office reports the vehicle was traveling southbound on State Route 19 when the right side tire left the roadway, causing the vehicle to enter a drainage ditch and hit a culvert. The vehicle was able to make it back onto the roadway, but sustained heavy front end damage.

After the incident, Haas began bleeding from the head and was immediately taken to the Wyoming County Community Hospital. He was then taken to Erie County Medical Center for further treatment, according to deputies.

The Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office reports Haas died from his injuries on August 26.

The investigation is ongoing. Is it unclear at this time if charges will be filed.
