BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Depew man was arrested and faces charges after New York State police say he impersonated a state trooper.

According to police, 45-year-old Jason Lanning entered a residence in Elma on September 10th and asked to speak to a female resident, he identified himself as an off-duty state trooper.

Lanning who was previously employed as a state trooper until 2010, was taken into custody on September 20th and was found to be in possession of items that belonged to New York State police.

He is charged with criminal impersonation and criminal possession of stolen property.
