BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — The Department of Public Works, Parks and Streets proposed to name the corner of North Division and Main streets in Buffalo Tesla Pocket Park. The park will honor electrical engineer Nikola Tesla.

“Tesla was very important in the development of electrical services for use by everybody,” deputy commissioner of public works Andy Rabb said. “And it was developed right here in Western New York through the power source of Niagara Falls. So he was here during the time when these things were going on so it’s fitting to have both a park and a statue in his honor in Buffalo.”

The proposal went before the Buffalo Common Council Tuesday and Rabb expects it to be approved.

“[Tesla Park] will consist of a sitting area like it does now, but will have the addition of a statue honoring Nikola Tesla,” he said.
